The application has new additions – this time from two resources! Audio samples of dialects with their transcriptions from the Gemer and Záhorie regions have been added to the application:
- 4 from the villages of Honce and Rakovnica in the Štítnická Valley,
- 2 from the village Smrdáky in the Záhorie region.
We would like to thank Dr. Stella Ondrejčiková (Gemer dialects), and Dr. Andrej Závodný (Záhorie region dialects) for their cooperation and for providing the materials. They both prepared descriptions of the dialects for each location, so you can not only listen to the audio samples, but also learn something about the dialects.
Mapka is an interactive application for displaying dialect samples on a map of Slovakia. Currently, it contains more than 70 samples from 60 locations, with others to be added gradually.
The application has been developed by the Slovak National Corpus Department of the Ľ. Štúr Institute of Linguistics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, in close collaboration with experts on Slovak dialects.
