The Year of Ľudovít Štúr: Language as a measure of time

What units of measurement were used in Hungary in the past? Did you know that okov, merica or viedenská pinta were not only old words, but also the units of measurement for liquids, loose or solid materials?

On the occasion of the Year of Ľudovít Štúr we offer you a new poster displaying units of measurement used from the 15th to 19th century in Hungary. The poster contains samples from the Štúr-era national paper Slovak National Newspapers.

You will also learn that all the terms111 historical units—included in the Slovak Terminology Database*, together with 17 000 terms from 23 different fields.
