Annotation: The research focuses on a contrastive study of emotional and expressive linguistic means in contemporary Slovak and contemporary French journalistic texts, with an emphasis on selected journalistic genres. The main benefit lies in identifying, analysing and comparing the modes of expression supporting the emotionality of media communication in Slovak and French electronic press. The subject of the research is the nature and variation of the means of inherent and adherent expressiveness in terms of linguistic nature, intensity of semantic-pragmatic symptomatology, frequency of occurrence and translatability. The expected impact of the project is in the area of strengthening the resilience of the media audience by increasing their competence in the field of reception of linguistic means with the symptom of emotionality. The practical output will be a bilingual glossary of these lexemes, which is useful for professionals in agency reporting and in the translation of journalistic as well as artistic and other texts.
